Maryland’s Earned Income Tax Credit is an essential tool that lifts thousands of low-wage workers in Maryland out of poverty each year. However, it leaves behind workers not raising children, particularly 18- to 24-year-olds. At a press conference Feb. 28, the Maryland Center on Economic Policy joined bill sponsors Sen. Richard Madaleno and Del. Sheila Hixon, along with our coalition partners at the CASH Campaign of Maryland, to speak about the need to expand Maryland’s EITC.
